What better way to begin a new year than a 48-hour adventure? January 2nd, I went to Philadelphia with my friend and student Katie Meek for an internship interview she had with Anthropologie. It was snowy and frigid, but we had a great time exploring this city. Here are a few photos Katie took during our trip:
We stayed in a Bed and Breakfast in West Philly near the University of Pennsylvania called the Gables. It was still decorated for Christmas and didn’t even look real. The day we spent at URBN Inc. headquarters was my favorite. We arrived to the Navy Yard and went straight to the common building which houses a few offices, a coffee shop, magazine library, cafeteria and company gym. Of course, it is decorated like nothing I have ever seen.
After the interview, they offered tours so we got to see each brand’s offices. One thing I love about these brands is that everything is really consistent and recognizable. The offices were no exception. We were able to guess instantly.
Anthropologie: Urban Outfitters: Terrain and BHLD: Since these buildings were once used for the Navy’s shipyard, it makes them really unique. The whole campus is really amazing. It sits on the river next to huge ships. The rest of our trip was spent walking and riding the trolley around different parts of the city getting the full experience.
Here are my iPhone photos:
Because of the snow storm, we couldn’t get a taxi to take to the interview. We figured out a way to take a trolley then another one which got us pretty close. The last mile was a chilly walk through the snow. It was memorable to say the least. The Anthrologie in Center City was amazing too! It is in an old stone building that has 3 stories of shopping. The University of Pennsylvania campus is amazing.
